2nd Workshop with the title “Wastewater and waste reuse strategies in the industry”
The “LIFE HIDAQUA 2nd workshop: Wastewater and Waste Reuse Experiences in the Industry” will be held on the 13th of November, with the aim of publicizing the progress and results achieved in different projects focused on industrial wastewater and waste reuse and offer the opportunity to network and share experiences related to the topics addressed.

The arrival of the prototype at the Hidria location in Koper

Our subcontractor, the company Protecmed from Spain, completed the construction of the Hidaqua prototype in November 2022, which was ordered in March 2022. The prototype was successfully transported to the Hidria company location in Koper, Slovenia on December 22, 2022.

Presentation of the LIFE Hidaqua project at the Eco Wave 2022 fair

During the period from 20.-22. September 2022, "Eco Wave 2022", the leading B2B fair in the field of environmental technologies in Slovenia, took place at the Economic Exhibition Center in Ljubljana. Eco Wave is the only B2B trade fair for environmental technologies in Slovenia and the CEE region.

Visit of the manufacturing progress of the LIFE Hidaqua prototype and EURECAT

In the last 30 years, the intensity of dry periods in Europe has increased drastically. According to the latest data from the European Drought Observatory, many Central and Northern European countries and almost the entire Mediterranean area are currently struggling with water shortages.

Participation in the LIFE networking event

Ten LIFE projects, including LIFE Hidaqua, were presented at the LIFE event "Circular Economy of Waste, Water and Soil", organized by the EURECAT Technology Center. Many interesting projects were presented, like LIFE WAT'SAVEREUSE, LIFE INFUSION, LIFE SPOT, LIFE IBATHWATER and others. The project presentations were followed by a workshop where we shared our experiences and presented the challenges we face in our project work and advised each other on how to successfully achieve the project goals.

LIFE projects networking event: Circular economy of waste, water & soil

Our partner Eurecat organizes the “LIFE projects networking event: Circular economy of waste, water & soil” on the 25th of November, with the aim of publicizing the progress and results achieved in the different LIFE projects on these topics and to offer the opportunity to network and share experiences related to the topics addressed. Eurecat has participated so far in more than 17 LIFE projects during the last 9 years.

The LIFE Hidaqua project is also supported by the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning, Republic of Slovenia

We signed a contract with the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Slovenia on co-financing the LIFE Hidaqua project in the amount of 7.16% of eligible project costs.

The last sampling of waters at Koper

Today we did another (the last) sampling of brackish, storm and industrial wastewater of Hidria. Samples are being analysed at Josef Stefan Institute for different chemical parameters.

3rd consortium meeting

All partners have again gathered in an online meeting due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions. The main topic of the meeting was to review the current progress, where we presented the activities by individual actions and the work plan in the coming months as well as an assessment of delays in the course of the LIFE HIDAQUA project. The goal of the meeting was also to prepare a mitigation strategy to solve problems related to these delays, which were caused by the crisis lockdown.

In cooperation with TV Koper / TV Capodistria a short video of LIFE HIDAQUA project was recorded at Hidria premises in Koper, Slovenia. Beneficiaries from Hidria and ZAG Ljubljana explained the general information about the project LIFE HIDAQUA. The video in Slovenian language can be seen here and here.

Second consortium meeting of the LIFE HIDAQUA project

The second consortium meeting of the LIFE HIDAQUA project took place on 10 June 2020 in ZAG. ZAG is the lead stakeholder - project coordinator, consisting of 5 associated stakeholders - project partners (HIDRIA, Geology Idrija, Jožef Stefan Institute and Spanish partners Eurecat Institute and HidroQuimia from Barcelona.

Sampling of brackish and storm water 

Due to Covid-19 lockdown our project activities were slightly on hold. Yesterday we managed to do the fourth sampling of alternative water resources – brackish water and storm water. Unfortunately, the Hidria factory is still not operating due to Covid-19 and lockdown in car industry manufacture, so the sampling of industrial wastewater is still not possible.

Lab tests on industrial wasterwater

Our Spanish colleagues from Eurecat have been working on lab-scale tests to treat industrial water produced by HIDRIA company, a key supplier in the European automotive industry. Several JAR and DAF tests have been performed and already shown some desired results.

A conference entitled "Making Water Fit for LIFE - LIFE Waste-Water Treatment Platform Meeting" was held in Barcelona on January 29-30 2020, organized by EASME, Neemo LIFE monitoring team and CETAQUA.

Kick-off meeting of LIFE HIDAQUA

A kick-off meeting of  LIFE HIDAQUA project took place at ZAG on November 20th, 2019. A  consortium of 6 partners (four Slovenian partners; ZAG, HIDRIA, Geology, JSI and two Spanish partners; Eurecat Institute and HidroQuimia) has been gathered together to present the course of action of the project, where guidance was also provided on financial and administrative matters by coordinating project office.

Welcome meeting in Brussels

European Commission and Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) organized the Welcome Meeting for ENV and GIE LIFE18 projects on 7 and 8 November 2019 in Brussels. The meeting took place at the Crowne Plaza Brussels. Project LIFE HIDAQUA was presented by Sara Seršen and Marcel Rous.
