1st workshop: Tackling water scarcity in Slovenian Istria
Over the past thirty years occurrences of droughts have increased both in number and intensity. This is already having increasing environmental (as well as social and economic) impacts on biodiversity, soil erosion, and at the same time on the water quality and quantity. Analyses of the hydrological state in Slovenia indicate that the available quantities of water are diminishing and that the distribution of precipitation is changing. Istria region, as well as wider Mediterranean region will suffer the most due to water scarcity caused by increased intensity of drought periods and at the same time increased consumption (e.g. growing tourism) especially during summer.
In order to preserve natural sources of drinking water, it is necessary to ensure the implementation of systemic solutions to alleviate future problems of water scarcity in Slovenian Istria. This webinar is organized in the frame of the LIFE Hidaqua project, which is focused on developing a sustainable water management approaches for high water demanding industries focusing on the Mediterranean area.
The event will be organized in hybrid mode, located at ZAG premises (Dimičeva ulica 12, 1000 Ljubljana) and available through link below.
