HIDRIA is a key supplier in the European automotive industry as a Tier-1 and tier-2 supplier to main European OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers. Originating in 1970, the company started as the manufacturer of electric motors. The groups currently employs 1800 people, and has an annual turnover of approx. 270 million EUR. Its customers are the most important companies in European automotive industry, ranging from Volkswagen, GM, BMW, PSA Group and Volvo Trucks to Bosch, Brose, Faurecia, Valeo, Magna Powertrain, ZF/TRW, JTEKT, Nidec and others. Hidria is a strongly R&D-oriented company which can be attested with 2 specialized institutes (Hidria Institute for Automotive and Hidria Institute for Materials and Technologies), each with multiple labs and facilities. Hidria participates in this project with two business units on location Koper:
1. Hidria Alutec - which produces highly demanding high-pressure die-cast (HPDC) aluminium parts, has only started in 2000 but has since grown to become the second largest BU in Hidria with 550 employees and 50 million EUR annual sales. Alutec BU has three main product families: steering system housings, pump housings, EV/HEV components. The BU covers the whole manufacturing process, from HPDC, CNC machining, leakage testing and validation in two manufacturing locations (Koper and Spodnja Idrija).
2. BU Hidria Mototec – which produces steel and aluminium welded and painted components for motorcycles is among the newest and smallest BU units within Hidria but it still has approx.. 150 employees and 12 million EUR annual sales. Production process covers welding, surface protection with cataphoresis or dust spraying and paint booths. Customers include BMW, Ducati and KTM. HIDRIA has almost 20 years of experience in the use and management of advanced water treatment processes in their business units in Koper, which prove that HIDRIA is a company that has a will and resources for development and use of sustainable water management solutions.
